George Nickson
George Nickson (9 May 1864 – 23 February 1949) was an Anglican bishop.〔“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 0-7136-3457-X〕
Nickson was born on 9 May 1864 and educated at Trinity College, Dublin and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. He was ordained in 1889.〔''Ordinations. Ely. (Official Appointments and Notices) '' The Times Saturday, Jun 22, 1889; pg. 17; Issue 32732; col D〕 His first post was as a curate at Holy Trinity, Cambridge, after which he was successively Vicar of St Benedict, Cambridge, St John the Divine Fairfield, Liverpool〔(Amateur video of the soon to be demolished church )〕 and St Andrew's Southport before being appointed Rural Dean of West Derby in 1905. In 1906 he became the first Suffragan Bishop of Jarrow.〔The Times, Saturday, May 05, 1906; pg. 11; Issue 38012; col E ''King’s approval of Nickson’s appointment''〕 In 1914 he was translated to Bristol.〔''New Bishop Of Bristol.
